Player Selection Process Minimize
Albany Little League Draft Rules and Guidelines for Junior, Majors and AAA Divisions

The draft is moderated and presided over by the Player Agent.  The decisions of the Player Agent are final.

DRAFT ORDER – The Draft Order is established by the Commissioner. The 1st Round (and subsequent odd-numbered rounds) follows the draft order on the draft grid from left to right.  The 2nd Round (and subsequent even-numbered rounds) follows the draft order on the grid from right to left.  This establishes a serpentine order throughout the whole of the draft.  Teams at each end of the order effectively have two consecutive picks straddling the end and beginning of consecutive rounds.

DRAFT POOL – The Draft Pools are established by the Player Agent in consultation with the Commissioners.

COACHES KIDS – In accordance with established procedure, the Commissioner creates a grid with the coaches kids slotted into spots corresponding to the team and relative round appraisal for that player.  The remaining open slots will be filled with players from the Draft Pool, each team choosing in the order reflected on the grid.

DRAFT LIMITATIONS
12-year olds – Every 12-year old listed in the draft pool must be selected by a Majors team.  If the remaining open slots necessitates selection of only 12-year olds, the Player Agent will make an announcement indicating that all subsequent selections must come from the list of remaining 12-year olds.
No team may choose more than eight (8) 12-year olds as per Little League Regulations.  This requirement may force some teams to take 12-year olds while (an)other team(s) may be forced to take players who are not 12-year olds.

11-year olds – Any 11-year old not drafted in Majors is placed in the AAA draft pool.

DRAFT PROCESS – The Player Agent will call the Draft to order.  The first team with a draft pick will have 2 minutes to make that selection.  Each following selection will have the same two minute time limit; the period to make the selection will start when the Player Agent states, “(team name), you are now on the clock.”  If no selection has been made with 30 seconds remaining, the Player Agent will announce the time remaining in the selection, announcing each five-second mark. If no selection is forthcoming at the end of the two minute window, the team will pass on that round’s selection and make it up at the end of the draft. Teams with two consecutive selections may not combine the 2-minute time limits.  Think ahead when awaiting your team’s turn.  Teams make their selections by announcing the player number and the name of the player.  After a selection has been made, the Player Agent will repeat back the number and the name to ensure accuracy.

The ongoing draft selections and remaining available players will be available for view.

Trades are allowable in the period immediately following the draft until 7:00 PM the following night.  To complete a trade, an e-mail from one manager to the Player Agent (laytoan@gmail.com) and cc’ing the other involved manager(s).  All teams in the trade must have 12 players on their respective rosters and no trade is final until the Player Agent approves the trade.
Throwbacks are players that can be exchanged for a previously undrafted Majors Draft Pool player.  If a manager decides that he would rather have an undrafted pool player in place of a drafted player, the manager may throwback the drafted player.  Be specific who you are throwing back into the pool and who you are claiming.  First come, first served via email only.

Player Notification – Once the Player Agent has finalized the rosters, all managers will be notified that they can then contact the players on their respective rosters.  Do not contact any drafted player until you are authorized by the Player Agent.

Confidentiality - The Draft is kept confidential.  Each individual attending the draft is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of the Draft and Draft materials.

Draft Attendence - Only managers and coaches from the Division, and board members may attend the draft.
