Berkeley-Albany Little League Divisions & Player Placement
Berkeley-Albany Little League (BALL) provides recreational baseball for boys and girls ages 5–14, focused on Fun, sportsmanship, teamwork and skill development.
Players ages 8–14 will be asked to attend an on-field player evaluation, which helps the league place players in the most appropriate division to ensure balanced teams and positive experiences for all participants.
- All ages are determined as of August 31 per Little League Baseball guidelines.
Minors Divisions (Ages 5–11)
T-Ball • Rookie • A • AA • AAA
The Minors program introduces and develops fundamental baseball skills in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
Player Placement (Ages 5–9)
Players ages 5–9 are placed based on:

Division Overview

T-Ball (Ages 5–6)
For players new to baseball, with an emphasis on fun, confidence, and basic skills.

Rookie (Ages 5–7)
For players who have completed T-Ball or are beginning organized baseball.
Some 7-year-olds may remain in Rookie based on experience or evaluation.

A Division (7-8)
Primarily for experienced 7-year-olds and 8-year-olds with limited experience.

AA Division (8-10)
Teams consist of 8,9 and 10-year-olds and are formed using player evaluations to promote competitive balance.

AAA Division (Ages 9–11)
A more advanced Minors division. Players under age 9 may request consideration.
Majors Division (Ages 10-12)
The Majors division represents the highest level of recreational baseball within BALL.

10- and 11-year-olds are placed in Majors or AAA based on evaluations conducted by league leadership

For players seeking a more competitive experience on a larger field.

Eligibility

Placement is determined through evaluations by the Division Commissioner and Player Agent.
Registering for Intermediate does not guarantee placement.
Players not selected will be offered a spot in the Majors division.
Juniors Division (13-14)
Designed for older players who are ready for advanced competition and continued development on a full-size baseball field.

Challenger Division (Ages 5–18)

The Challenger season runs March through June and emphasizes fun, confidence, and community.
