Umpire Requirements

With the 2026 Little League Season approaching, now is your opportunity to sign up to become an adult or youth Little League Umpire!

No experience is necessary – we provide free training to get you ready for the season.

The umpires are “the third team” on the baseball field and without umpires, there would be no games.

Umpiring offers the opportunity to increase your baseball knowledge, to get fresh air, exercise, to serve the community and to have the “best seat in the house” during Little League baseball games. Umpiring can be a wonderful hobby for parents, young adult kids, siblings and friends to engage in together.

Requirements for being an Umpire

The requirements for being an umpire are:

  • Youth umpire: Little League age 12 years old or older
  • Adult umpire: open to all
  • Have taken the umpire field training put on by District 4 or Albany Little League
  • Have participated in the rules clinic put on by District 4 or by Albany Little League

If you are new to umpiring, please sign up to ensure you receive notifications about upcoming events.

REQUIRED TRAINING FOR THE 2026 SEASON

One Field Mechanics Training session and all 4 Zoom Rules training are required for all new and returning umpires.

This is an annual requirement for all Little League adult and youth umpires. There are significant Little League rule and mechanics changes for 2026.
