ExpoDay/Tryouts: What It’s Really About ⚾

ExpoDay/Tryouts are an important step in building a great season — but they’re not about rankings or labels.

They help the league:

  • Understand player experience and development
  • Build balanced teams
  • Create competitive and fun divisions for everyone

The goal is simple: set every player up for a positive season.

More details on what to expect — and how the process works — are available in Coaches Corner.

Expo Day Tryouts & Evaluation Details + Volunteer Update ⚾

Tryout & evaluation times for this year’s Expo Day have been finalized and are now posted. Please take a moment to review your child’s assigned time and double-check the difference between the 8s and 9s evaluation schedules, as they differ.

What to bring: Glove, Helmet and bat (we’ll have extras available if needed)

If you have not received an email with the signup or schedule links or did and notice that your child’s name is not listed, it’s likely just an oversight. Please contact playeragent@albanylittleleague.org, and we’ll get it sorted out.

Volunteer update: Volunteer helper time slots have been updated to reflect the current schedule. If you’ve already signed up, please double-check your assigned time. We are still in need of additional helpers for Saturday and Sunday, so if you’re able to assist, please sign up for a slot.

If your player has a scheduling conflict and cannot attend their assigned tryout time, please be sure to complete the conflict form as instructed. Players who do not attend tryouts and do not submit the conflict form will be placed at the league’s discretion.

📍 Location: Expo Day will be held at the El Cerrito High School baseball field, off Ashbury Ave.

Expo Day enables our coaches to evaluate players, allowing us to form teams and divisions that are as evenly balanced as possible. Thank you for helping make this an organized and successful weekend for our players!

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes Right Now

As we prepare for the 2026 season, a great deal of work is underway behind the scenes to ensure a smooth, enjoyable, and well-organized year of baseball.

Right now, league volunteers are:

  • Finalizing coaches and division leadership
  • Preparing player evaluations and team formation processes
  • Scheduling trainings, meetings, and equipment distribution
  • Coordinating safety, rules, and league operations

All of this preparation helps create a positive experience once teams are formed and games begin.

Thank you to the many volunteers helping make the season possible.
